Thumping Heart?

Question Im having problems with my heart? So this is the problem I set at my desk for some time and I will get up to go get a drink like 10 feet away in the fridge and ill go sit right back down at the desk and I can feel my heart thump like a orchestra bass drum mallet tapping on the inside of my chest and its worring me ive had a holter moniter ekg exray ultra sound where they check your heart valves and stuff and they say i have no problems also ontop of the with that thumping thing is I also feel my heart stop beat stop beat about 10 times this hapens it stops beats fast acouple times the stops beats slow couple times about 3 times in seqence then it beats well enough I dont notice untilli get up againit dont happen anyother time acsept mabe after a short run but thats about it this happens all the time. Answer The more you pay attention to it, the more it will happen. When you sense it you get anxious. When you get anxious, you increase the risk of it happening. You are wearing a monitor. That would pick up any abnormalities. That is why you are wearing it. You have been told you have no problems. Eventually you will believe this but for some of us it takes a while. It did for me. Your heart rate may jump around a bit when you stand up or make a sudden movement after being still for a while. Just remind yourself that it is just palpitations and nothing more. Here are a few things that can alter heartrate: Caffeine, alcohol, smoking, stress, anxiety, exercise, some medications. Question Fast heartbeat and shortness of breath??!? this started about a month ago. whenever im doing everyday things my heart will start beating fast, then i have to sit down because im having trouble breathing. when i walk up the stairs my heart starts beating really fast. when i stand up, sometimes i get dizzy & my eyes start going black. im 14, very small, 106 pounds, 5'1 & 1/2. does anyone know what this could be? Answer It is normal for your heart rate to increase when you are active (even walking) compared to just sitting down. It may be that one day you just noticed this and now every time you move, you are looking for symptoms and noticing them. The focusing on them just makes you anxious if you are worried there is csomething wrong with you. Worrying just makes breathing and heart rate worse. As for getting dizzy and black vision when standing, this is not normally a concern but you may like to get it check out by your doctor. My guess (but I'm not a doctor) is that your blood pressure is a bit low. This can cause the symptos you describe when standing up. In the meantime, try to stand up slowly. As for the breathing, you may have anxiety or you may have asthma. Some people can have asthma that is triggered by exercise. It is reffered to as exercise induced asthma. At your age it is probably nothing of concern but a medical check up will certainly do not harm.
